My vision of the O’Connor Elementary school library is to have a welcoming environment for all staff and students. The library will provide a rich variety of literature and resources for the benefit of all students and teachers. My role as the school librarian is to collaborate with teachers to help provide resources for the classroom that meets the curriculum requirements and to have books resources available for students to read for enjoyment as well as for academic needs. My library program will focus on promoting reading by using many current ideas and activities including new technological resources. The activities used will be those that are supported by proven library practices and expert librarians. It will be important for students to learn basic library skills along with the basic rules of plagiarism and copyright policies that they can carry with them throughout their lives. This vision for the O’Connor Elementary library will continuously provide opportunities for our students to be successful in all future endeavors.
