Dionne Hughes has been named Principal of O’Connor Elementary School. Mrs. Hughes returns to Victoria ISD after serving as a School Improvement & Accountability Consultant for Region 3 for the past two years. In that role, she has been working collaboratively with the O’Connor Elementary staff on targeted improvement efforts. Prior to Region 3, she held leadership positions in Victoria ISD including Director of Assessment & Accountability and Assistant Principal at Shields Elementary School. Throughout her career, Mrs. Hughes has served in educational roles as a classroom teacher, instructional facilitator, and campus, district, and regional leader. She holds a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University and a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from the University of Houston - Victoria.
Mrs. Hughes says VISD has always been home to her, first as a student, then as an employee. Even over the past two years that she has worked outside of VISD, she has actively supported the district’s students and staff through her role, specifically acting as the Professional Support Provider for Schorlemmer and O’Connor. Serving as Principal at O’Connor Elementary feels like the perfect fit for her.
